Pinecrest Academy to Host Feed My Starving Children® MobilePack™ At Forsyth Conference Center

December 13 06:40 2018

Feed My Starving Children® and Pinecrest Academy has proudly announced that 700 volunteers from the Pinecrest Academy and the Forsyth County community will serve together at the Feed My Starving Children® MobilePack™ Event. Founded in 1987, Feed My Starving Children® (FMSC) is a Christian non-profit organization committed to feeding God’s children and their families across the globe. They provide nutritionally complete meals specifically formulated for malnourished children. FMSC meals are hand-packed by volunteers and sent to a network of partner organizations who distribute them to those in need. Nearly 1.2 million volunteers packed more than 333 million FMSC meals in 2017. More than 90 percent of total donations go directly to feed kids.

The event which is slated to be held at Forsyth Conference Center at Lanier Technical College, 3410 Ronald Reagan Blvd., Cumming, GA 30041 on Sunday, December 16, 3-5pm, is expected to have volunteers arrive at 2:30pm to check in and receive their blue hair nets and table assignments.

Children (ages 5 and up) and adults gather in a large facility and work as a team to hand-pack meals specifically formulated for malnourished children, and FMSC ships these meals to distribution partners. Meals reach nearly 70 countries around the world.  Last year, over 500 Pinecrest Academy volunteers packed 114,264 meals.

To help pay for the cost of the food, volunteers for the Pinecrest Academy MobilePack™ event were asked to make a $30 donation per volunteer. The school also held fundraising activities via fun competitions between the Lower, Middle, and High Schools, bringing the total donation for this MobilePack™ event to over $20,000.

The mission of Pinecrest Academy is to form Christian leaders who will transform society. Pinecrest challenges students to use their gifts in service to others, and seeks to provide opportunities for the entire family to serve together. This is the third year Pinecrest has partnered with FMSC for a MobilePack™ event, during which parents, children, grandparents, aunts uncles, cousins, and neighbors have joined together to serve in an impactful way.

700 volunteers of all ages, working side-by-side to pack more than 100,000 meals, and then gathering at the close of the packing event to pray over all of the boxes. All are outfitted in light blue hair nets and gloves. View photos by Whitelake Studio from the 2017 MobilePack™ event
