The Southwest Oklahoma Corvette Club was founded in February of 2015 and has made significant contribution to The Holy City Of The Wichitas to help with ongoing renovations. “We will celebrate our 5th Anniversary next year. Our club’s official purpose is to promote interest in the Corvette through various automotive activities and to encourage ownership of and passion for “America’s Sports Car.” Says Jeremy Welborn.

Jeremy told the AP “Our local Club has approximately 50 members.  We have always been helping meet the needs of the less fortunate in our community and have had annual events to raise funding and awareness for these causes.”  Over the last four years, the Southwest Oklahoma Corvette Club has supported the Lawton Food Bank, the Lawton/Fort Sill Boys and Girls Club, The Holy City, the Comanche County Sherriff’s Department Thanksgiving Meals, and Operation Homefront. 

Most of our funds are raised through the annual SWOCC Corvette Weekend that takes place in the spring. This past March, The Southwest Oklahoma Corvette Club had 91 Corvettes register for the Corvette Show and several more in attendance for other Corvette activities that weekend. “One of the offerings this year was a Sunday Morning Service in the chapel at The Holy City, which was a wonderful experience” said Jeremy Welborn.

“This was our first year to expand the event through Sunday, and we knew we would have guests in attendance who would enjoy being a part of a Sunday service, so we added this to our event. A native Lawtonian, myself and many others in our Club have often enjoyed visiting The Holy City,” said Jeremy.

“Along with the other attractions in the Wichita Wildlife Refuge, we wanted our guests to experience these national treasures as well and thought The Holy City would be a great place to have our Sunday service.  We certainly appreciate the opportunity to have our service in the chapel there and wanted to express our appreciation as a club through a donation,” said President of The Southwest Oklahoma Corvette Club, Jeremy Welborn.

The SWOCC Corvette Weekend raised almost $7,500, which will be distributed to various non-profits throughout the year. In the past week, the Southwest Oklahoma Corvette Club donated $5,500 to local non-profits and plan to help with other opportunities in the fall and winter months.

One of the Holy City board members, Lisa Christiansen, shared her story of her 1981 Corvette, this is a one-of-a-kind custom paint on this muscle car.
